The 17th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair 

MIF 2012

Macao International Trade & Investment Fair ​(MIF), Macao’s annual international trade and economic event, is currently the only exhibition event in Macao accredited by The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI).

In 2012, the 17th Macao International Trade & Investment Fair ​(MIF 2012) will take place at the Venetian Macao / The Venetian Macao Convention & Exhibition Center from October 18-21.

 

Highlights of Macao International Trade & Investment Fair ​(MIF)

*Deepen Regional Co-operation and Strengthen its Role as a Trade and Business Service Platform

On the basis of deepening traditional regional co-operation, and in accordance with the arrangements set out in the 3rd Ministerial Conference of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation Between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries held in Macao in 2010, the Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta as well as the Framework Agreement on the Co-operation Between Guangdong and Macao, MIF will further strengthen Macao’s role as a regional trade and business service platform, especially the trade and economic service platform between Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.


*Set up Designated Trade and Investment Pavilions to Create More Business Opportunities

In order to create more business openings and investment opportunities for trade visitors, the contents of the Cultural and Creative Industries Pavilion, Home Appliances Pavilion, Taiwan Pavilion, SME Exhibition and Digital Imaging and Photography Equipment Display Pavilion will be further enriched this year. Several new themed pavilions will be set up including Motor Cycle Pavilion, Lighting and Decoration Pavilion, Food and Beverages, Hotel and Restaurant Supplies Pavilion. 


* Increased number of Investment Promotion Conferences to Facilitate SMEs’ Business Development

To strengthen co-operation between Guangdong and Macao, two promotional events namely the Promotion on Investment Environment and Project of Nansha New District and the Promotion on SMEs Investment in Hengqin New District will be organised under the Framework Agreement on Co-operation Between Guangdong and Macao. It will provide co-operation and development opportunities for enterprises, especially those in Guangdong and Macao.


*Professional Trade Visitors are invited to Promote Diversified Business Matching

This year’s MIF will strengthen services for the specially invited buyers, trade visitors of well-known enterprises and theme pavilions. The “Convention and Exhibition Through Train” and “Incentives for Professional Visitors Participating in MIF” Programmes” provide special matching services for exhibitor groups to enhance the effectiveness of business matching and project discussions.


* Enhancing Multi-destination Service to Promote the Sharing of Convention and Exhibition Resources

In order to enhance the effectiveness of convention and exhibition participation, MIF will continue to actively co-operate with partners in neighbouring regions to provide multi-destination services through Macao and attract visitors to participate in the Canton Fair and take field trips to Hengqin, Zhuhai and Nansha. These exhibitions complement each other and provide the greatest effectiveness and business opportunities for trade visitors.


* Professional Fashion Shows to Showcase the Glamour of the Industry

MIF will continue to work with Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre in setting up pavilions for the cultural and creative industry as well as the fashion industry. It will serve as a networking platform for co-operation and exchanges for cultural and creative industry-related enterprises, designers/design institutions, brand operators and garment manufacturers.

Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM)'s main responsibilities:
1. To introduce potential investors to the local investment environment and opportunities. Also to provide "One-Stop Service": information enquiries – project assessment – company registration assistance provided by IPIM's notary – guidance on administrative procedures concerned with licence applications – project follow-ups – assistance in the implementation of projects.

 

2. To provide trade, economic, statistical, general information and market analysis to assist clients in exploring the market and the development of their business.

3. To organise, co-organise exhibitions and other promotional events locally, to participate in such events held outside Macao and to sponsor local enterprises participation in such events, as a way to create trade opportunities.

4. To organise local economic delegations to search for business opportunities, welcome visits by delegations to Macao, in order to create channels for exchange and co-operation.

5. Responsible for the issuing of licenses, technical assistance and supervision for non-financial offshore institutions. To promote local offshore development with various activities.

6.To evaluate applications for local residence by investors, company managers and professionals.

7. Editing and publishing of trade and economic magazines, to promote Macao's business environment .
