With sharp shock of the world oil prices and the urgent background of the global demand for the alternative chemical raw materials and alternative energy, during the China national "12th Five-Year" period, coal-chem industry will win its leading industry speed, becoming a rather important part of energy structure in China. Therefore, the coal-chem industry attracks great development & investment opportunities at home and abroad.

China shows rapid development on coal-to-methanol, coal-to-dimethanol, coal-to-olefins, coal-to-ethylene glycol, coal liquefaction, coal-to-natural gas, coal chem new technology research and industrialization and so on. Since the China national "12th Five-Year", the state-owned, private capital, overseas investors are moving into coal-chem industry, laeding to the strong trend of this area, the central state-owned corporations includes Shenhua Co., Datang Co., China Coal Co., China Electric Co., etc; the private capital such as Shandong Yankuang Henan Coal Industry, Shanxi Lu’an, Inner Mongolia Yitai, China Fanhai, Dalian Wanda, Sichuan Hongda, Lenovo Group, etc; the international Giants such as Sasol, Total, Shell, GE, What’s more, China natioal petrochemical giant --- Sinopec, CNOOC, Yanchang Group, based on the reason of  limited oil resources, set their foot into the coal-chem industry. On June 28, 2012, the 1st China Coal Chemical Petrochemical Association Coal- Chem Special Committee was held in the Beijing Great Hall. The Chairman of China Petrochemical AssociationLi Yongwu and the President of the China Coal Industry Association Wang Xianzheng delivered a speech at the conference respectively. Mr. Li yongwu pointed out that the coal chemical industry has entered a strategic transition from traditional to a modern, showing the rapid development trend, constantly optimizing the industrial layout, realising great achievements and significant technological innovation.Mr. Wang Xianzheng pointed out that: during the China national "12th Five-Year" period, we should put more attention on the strategic aspects, rational distribution, scientific decision-making and evaluation, scientifical development direction of coal-chem industry chain, doing something, not doing something, strictly action of national coal chemical development policies, to reasize orderly development, speed up the coal structural adjustment, change coal-chem development mode, improve the comprehensive strength of the enterprises and lay a solid foundation. Coal- Chem Special Committee is heplful for the planning of the coal-chem industry development , industrial policy, trends and hot reseach spots & issues; coordination and implementation of the promotion on coal chemical plans and industrial policies; focus on the project servises & development of coal-to-methanol, coal-to-dimethanol, coal-to-olefins, coal-to-ethylene glycol, coal liquefaction, coal-to-natural gas, coal chem new technology research and industrialization as well as industry  demonstration, evaluation,new technologies promotion & application.
