Session 1
(14:00-15:00)
Theme: PV developments and market trends
14:00-14:20
Keynote #1.1: Development trends for photovoltaic manufacturing and terminal photovoltaic market in Asia-pacific region
TBD, Bloomberg New Energy Finance
14:20-15:00
Panel Discussion: policymakers, market research institutes and industry experts
  • ·           With economies of scale of PV manufacturing industry generally taking shape and PV products’ prices falling sharply currently, what kinds of policy support do PV companies need to keep on strengthening the core competitiveness of Chinese PV companies? What kinds of policies can truly guide companies to focus on scientific research as well as scientific innovation in today’s China where the state government is strongly advocating the role of scientific innovation as the primary productive force?
  • ·           In view of the above question, if price advantage was the largest competitive edge for Chinese companies during the last stage of development, what will be Chinese companies’ next core competitiveness in today’s market where the prices of PV products have less room for reduction? Is it the refurbishment of current products? The creation of new products by scientific and technological innovation? The huge domestic market? Or the continuing reduction of products’ prices in a new way?
  • ·           It is generally said that the future PV market will determine the worldwide distribution of the whole PV industry. PV manufacturing companies will shift its terminal production line to overseas market. However, what will be the distribution of future PV industry across the world in terms of the whole industry chain (scientific research –- production -- application)? The following possibilities recently have been mentioned, so which one is more likely to come true?      Ø
ØPossibility One: More and more sophisticated division of labor enables countries with high scientific research ability (such as the US) to focus on developing new products, which are then manufactured in countries with high production capacity (such as China), and finally module processing is finished in the terminal market (such as South Africa).
ØPossibility Two: The advantages of large scale and industrial cluster of Chinese enterprises in manufacturing and producing process attract the whole PV industry chain to gather in China. Chinese scientific and research personnel can learn and digest advanced technologies, which then can be applied to large scale production. Core technologies (such as the production ofsilver paste) will also be shifted to China, enabling Chinese PV enterprise to become the center of the world.
  • ·           How should module manufacturing companies explore new markets in the face of the crisis caused by EU and US anti-dumping and anti-subsidy measures?
Session 2                 (15:00-16:20)
Theme: Novel Business and Financing Models
15:00-15:20
Keynote #2.1: Strategic prospects of Zhong Min Investment Group’s investing on PV plants
Mr Qinghao HAN, President, New Energy, Zhong Min Investment Group
15:20-15:40
Keynote #2.2: TBC
15:40-16:20
Panel Discussion: Financial institutions, banks, and financial industry experts
  • ·           Currently, some manufacturing enterprises have begun to look for new Internet financing mode, such as Yingli. What will be the prospects of the derived Internet distribution mode, Internet financing mode of distributed investment or the mode of third –party platform transaction? Can Internet financing usher in a new era of PV power plants investment?
  • ·           After a fast development period, currently financial institutions are taking a rational attitude towards the investment in PV manufacturing enterprises. Investors have become more conservative. From the point of view of enterprises, does the change of attitudes of financial institutions (banks, investors etc.) towards PV enterprises correctly reflect the development trend of this industry? Or are they overdoing it to some extend, which prevents the further development of PV enterprises?
  • ·           Compared with large-scale enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises are confronted with more obstacles in financing. Have the market and state-owned and private financial institutions pertinently considered the ways to help small and medium-sized enterprises with innovative achievements to increase their capacity so as to expand their scale and improve their level?
  • ·           The economic policies of the central government are strongly advocating the idea that the advantage of the market in resource allocation should be fully utilized. While the state-owned capital is gradually reducing its influence on PV industry, is there any way to mobilize private capital so as to make up for the market vacancy owing to the rational reduction of the influence of state-owned capital?
  • ·           How will the involvement of banks, insurance companies, funds   and investment banks stimulate the investments on large-scale PV power plants and distributed power plants?
